Xavier Moreno - Sångare - Tenor
During the last five years lyric-tenor Xavier Moreno has sung the main leading roles of his repertoire and received critical acclaim at renown international opera houses. Born in Barcelona, he studied voice, piano and choral conducting at the ”Conservatori Superior del Liceu” where he graduated with the highest distinction.
Between 2003 and 2008 he worked at the Mannheim National Theatre and established a remarkable repertoire. He was also invited as guest to perform at venues like Opera national de Paris (Bastille), Teatre del Liceu (Barcelona), Hungarian state Opera (Budapest), Copenhagen Royal Opera, Tel Aviv Performing Arts Center, Latvian National Opera (Riga), Seoul Opera House, as well as the Theatres of Hannover, Dortmund, Rouen, Limoges, Maribor, Rennes, Darmstadt, Mainz or Heidelberg, a.o.
His opera repertoire comprises roles such as Don Carlo (Don Carlo), Edgardo (Lucia di Lammermoor), Rodolfo (La Bohéme), Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly), nemorino (L’elisir d’amore), Werther (Werther) and Alfredo (La Traviata), a.o.
His concert reportoire includes works as Verdi’s Requiem, Haydn’s Creation, Beethoven’s ”Christus am Oelberge” and 9th Symphony, Rossini’s Petite Messe Solenelle, Elgar’s ”The Dream of Gerontius” as well as Dvorak’s Stabat Mater and Requiem. These works he performed at venues like the Suntory or City Opera Hall (Tokyo), ”Beethovenhalle” (Bonn), or the ”Tonhalle” (Zürich) and with orchestras like the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, the Israel Symphonic Orchestra, the Orchestra and Chorus of the Arena di Verona, the Hamburger Symphoniker, the Bochumer Symfoniker and many others.
He has worked with conductors like Adam Fischer, James Conlon, Hartmut Haenchen, Dan Ettinger, Frédéric Chaslin, György Ráth and Cornelius Meister.
Among recent and future projects to be mentioned are Edgardo in Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor with Danish National Opera (Jyske Opera) and his Cologne opera debut as Cassio in their new production of Verdi’s Otello, as well as his debut as Cavaradossi in Puccini’s Tosca at “Staatstheater Wiesbaden” and at the ”Wuppertaler Bühnen”.
