Arvid Eriksson

Swedish baritone Arvid Eriksson (b. 1998) has established himself as a distinguished concert singer with a distinctive profile within oratorio, concert and art song. His artistry is characterised by musical sensitivity, a keen interest in text and poetry, and a particular ability to unite singing, music and personal expression.

Arvid graduated from the Royal College of Music in Stockholm in 2021 and also holds a degree in church music. He began his professional career at the age of sixteen with the renowned ensemble Göteborg Baroque, where he remained a member until 2022. Growing up in a family of musicians gave him a strong musical foundation from an early age, and his artistic development has since focused firmly on the concert platform.

The 2023/2024 season brought several significant engagements. Under Ton Koopman, Arvid performed Mozart’s Mass in C minor with the Gulbenkian Orchestra in Lisbon. He also appeared in Handel’s Messiah with Västerås Sinfonietta and made his debut with the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra in Haydn’s The Creation at Gothenburg Concert Hall.

2025 marked further important steps in his artistic development. In May, Arvid appeared in the song recital series at Konserthuset Stockholm alongside soprano Miah Persson and pianist Magnus Svensson. The programme featured music by Sibelius, Stenhammar and Schumann, among others. The concert was also recorded for Konserthuset Play.

In December 2025, Arvid made his debut with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra at Konserthuset Stockholm in Mozart’s arrangement of Handel’s Messiah, conducted by Daniel Reuss, with the Eric Ericson Chamber Choir and fellow soloists. He also appeared with the Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra in Christmas concerts conducted by Rumon Gamba, which were broadcast on Swedish Radio. The programme included Vaughan Williams’s Fantasia on Christmas Carols.

In 2026, Arvid continues to expand his repertoire and collaborate with leading Swedish orchestras and ensembles. In February, he appeared with the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra in Lars-Erik Larsson’s Förklädd gud (*A God in Disguise*) and Carl Nielsen’s Symphony No. 3, conducted by Johannes Gustavsson. He also performed orchestral arrangements of Schubert lieder with Dalasinfoniettan.

Art song holds a special place in Arvid’s artistic life. He has performed several major works and song cycles from the international art song repertoire, including Schumann’s Dichterliebe and Liederkreis, Op. 24, Mahler’s Rückert-Lieder, Beethoven’s An die ferne Geliebte and Vaughan Williams’s Songs of Travel. His repertoire also encompasses songs by many other composers in the German, French and British art song traditions.

Swedish art song is particularly close to his heart. Works by Wilhelm Stenhammar, Ture Rangström and Wilhelm Peterson-Berger form an important part of his repertoire. Arvid’s commitment to Swedish art song reflects his deep interest in Sweden’s musical heritage and in the close relationship between poetry and musical expression.

In recognition of his artistry, Arvid has received several scholarships, including awards from Marianne & Sigvard Bernadottes konstnärsfond, Jubelårsfonden i S:t Johanneslogen S:t Erik and Stiftelsen Den Nordiska Första S:t Johanneslogens Jubelfond.
