Peter Kajlinger - Sångare - Baryton
Peter Kajlinger is one of Scandinavia’s most sought after baritones. Known for his solid vocal technique as well as outstanding stage presence he is in great demand by many conductors and stage directors.
Born in 1964 in Stockholm Kajlinger´s road to opera was quite straightforward. Growing up in a home of musicians, a career in the arts came quite naturally, although his interest in acting was something he developed by himself. In 1989 he was accepted to the College of Opera in Stockholm and already during his studies he could be seen at the Royal Opera in Stockholm in roles like Moralés (Carmen) and Leporello (Don Giovanni). His first engagement after graduating was at The Drottningholm Court Theatre in the title role in Falstaff by Salieri.
After that followed Leporello and Figaro (Le Nozze di Figaro) which brought him to the attention of Pamela Rosenberg, Co-General Director at Staatsoper Stuttgart, who invited him to join the ensemble at Staatsoper Stuttgart, where Peter did over twenty roles working with directors such as e.g. Kusej, Schaaf, Berghaus, Neuenfels, Breth and Wieler.
In 2003 Peter became freelance starting off with Masetto (Don Giovanni), Michelotto (Die Gezeichneten) and Antonio (Le Nozze di Figaro) at Staatsoper Stuttgart, followed by Le Nozze di Figaro at Gothenburg Opera, the main character, Verloc, in ”The Secret Agent” by Simon Willis commisioned by the Feldkircher Musikfestival, Amonasro (Aida) and Major Domo in Tjajkovskij´s Pique Dame.
Seeking further development and knowledge Peter went on to study with Sherrill Milnes, which led to his debuts as Scarpia and Rigoletto at Wermland Opera.
Among further engagements to be mentioned are Marcello, Dr. Treves in The Elephant Man, Tonio in I Pagliacci, Bartolo (The Barber of Seville), Pizarro (Fidelio, directed by Tobias Kratzer), Captain (Greek Passion), Frank (Die Fledermaus), The Emperor (The Emperor’s New Clothes), Orgon (Tartuffe) and Bottom (A Midsummer Night´s Dream) at the Royal Opera in Stockholm.
